Revision Surgery Policy

What revision means

Revision surgery may be considered for a complication, functional concern or result that remains unacceptable after sufficient healing. Normal swelling, scar maturation and temporary asymmetry are not a final result.

Assessment

The surgeon requires the previous operative history, a current examination and adequate healing time. Some concerns improve without surgery; others may require local treatment or a later operation.

Complication insurance for international patients

As part of Prof. Dr. Ufuk Bilkay’s international patient safety pathway, complication insurance is arranged for international surgical patients no later than the day of hospital admission. This practice reflects the patient-protection approach of Türkiye’s international health tourism framework and the HealthTürkiye ecosystem.

If a complication covered by the policy occurs during surgery or within the defined postoperative coverage period, eligible additional hospital, diagnostic and treatment expenses may be covered by the insurer. Coverage is always subject to the individual policy certificate, benefit limits, exclusions, time period, territory and authorised-provider requirements.

Complication insurance is not a guarantee of a complication-free result and does not automatically cover dissatisfaction with an aesthetic result, an elective change of preference, routine follow-up, travel or accommodation, or every revision procedure. The patient is provided with the policy or certificate and its applicable terms before surgery; claim eligibility is determined under those terms.

Costs and travel

When further treatment is considered, any insured medical expenses are handled according to the policy terms. Clinical responsibility and any hospital, anaesthesia, medicine, travel or accommodation costs outside the policy are reviewed case by case and should be documented before further travel.
